Hello my Name is Dilruba and this is my block about the Book „Notes from the Midnight Driver” Write a sentence to summarise each chapter.
Chapter 1: Gnome Run
Alex is a normal 16 years old boy, but when he found out that his father is in love with his teacher, then he gets really mad. He thought that it was a good idea to get drunk stole his mothers car and drive to his father to talk with him. But he crashed into a garden and killed a garden gnome so then he get arrested and in the end he passed out because his head against the doorway.
Chapter 2: The wake up
The next day, Alex wake up and he was in a sickroom, and in front of him, his parents. Alex parents were so angry, and they told him that that will have consequences.
Chapter 3: Day of the Dork
Alex get a house arrest so the only thing that he is doing is go to school and sit at home and do his homework. When he go to his school again, then everyone was talking about him and what he do in the night. That makes him really angry, but his best friend Laurie try to calm him.
Chapter 4: My day in court
Alex had to go to court after 40 days. his attorney was his uncle who happened to be very good with the prosecutor. the judge’s verdict was that he could only get his drivers license later and had to do community service.
Chapter 5: Solomon
No, Alex has to go to his community service and doing it in old peoples home. He was in a room with the old man they weren’t even talking and that makes it awkward. Then the old man was reading Alex mind, and Alex don’t like that so he wrote a letter to the jdge that he doesn’t want do this anymore. The judge wrote to Alex, and say that this would be a good chance for him and that he must keep going.
Chapter 6: Plan B
Alex has an inner monologue with drill sergeant and his inner coward about smart bombs and how much they would cost. After that he went to the second time, Mister Lewis he made a joke of him and pretended he was choking and Alex wished he was really choking. Alex wanted to show him that he’s not stupid, he’s smart. And in the end, Mr lewis was also impressed by Alex. after the visit, Alex wrote to the judge again, telling him that his mother had chosen him to see Mr lewis. He again begged the judge to give him a different sentence and again just complained.
Chapter 7: Laurie meets Sol
Alex brings Laurie to sol. They are meeting for the first time and sol asks laurie if she is married to Alex she told him they are only 16 years old. The first time, laurie didn’t bother alex about the accident. Sol thinks alex and laurie are dating. But Alex clarifies that she is just his girlfriend and sol then says that Alex is a very good boy. but sol doesn’t give up and still says that the two are married, they try to make it clear but sol just doesn’t want to understand.
Chapter 8: Sol gets interested
Alex has her first jazz lessons with his band. later he goes to sol, and he was early. He practiced guitar until sol came along. When Sol came in, Alex told him about his band and he wanted audition. He started playing and sol was very quiet when Alex played the guitar. Later, Alex wrote to the judge again, telling him that this was the first time he had experienced good things in the home.
Chapter 9: Happy Holidays
Alex’s father came by. He describes his father as a well-dressed man who comes in after work. Alex lies that he didn’t see his father’s email. After that, his father told him he was moving away for a job. His father breaks up with Alex’s teacher. That calms him down, but he thinks his father doesn’+ want him and that’s why he’s moving away. You have a profound conversation. His father wants to be friends with Alex, but he doesn’t know if that’s what he wants. After he had such a conversation with his father, Alex went to buy a jazz book as a gift. He then told about his daughter named Jodie.sol told why he got his illness. And Alex is scared for the first time that he might die.
Chapter 10: The Ball falls
Alex wanted to stay home, learn the guitar, and his mom went on a date. Laurie wanted to stop by Alex’s, and Alex’s mom wasn’t in a good mood. Alex made her a coffee to cheer her up. He wanted to give her some well-intentioned advice. After that alex went to sol on silwester open it alex had a nice christmas after alex visited sol he met laurie he thought she was reallv pretty all that sol did in his head all of a sudden laurie started to cry. She said her mother is pregnant. After Alex went home, he found a text from his mother telling him that she is very proud of him that he has improved. There was a New Year’s party at the house. Laurie danced with sol and the other old people joined in. Sol wondered why Alex was arrested. Alex tells him why he has to do community service, says it does matter because he can be kill someone and Sol gets really angry he endet the party. when Alex went home, he was watching TV with Laurie, close together. Alex? Asked Laurie how about a New Years kiss but she said no as they went to bed Alex heard his mother come home he also saw his father come in.
Chapter 11: Happy new Year
Alex pretended to sleep until he actually fell asleep. The next morning, Laurie cleans up the chocolate stain they made on the carpet the night before. The mother came down with the father. Alex wants to talk but his mom for shoe up until after breakfast but before it got down to talking Alex says goodbye and he goes to the dojo.
Chapter 12: Enter the Cha-Kings
In the new year alex goes back to school bryan boxed him and treated him like a loser. told him to buy Sol a present.
Suddenly Alex got the idea that he could host a benefit jazz concert and that Sol would like it. When he wanted to go home from school, he heard his friends Annette and Steven playing music in the hallway. he described how beautifully they played. Then look at Alex watching her. He talks to them and wanted to let them play for the benefit concert.
Chapter 13: Home Again
The two friends said yes, and Alex went to Sol He told him about the free benefit concert. Sol wants to play with him, she said. So that the concert is definitely more exciting than a treatment. Alex told again why he should go to court.
Sol calls him a good boy, but he says he did something wrong and got caught. Alex wrote the judge saying that the concert was good entertainment for the old people.
Chapter 14: Am I a great musician, or what.
Alex had the first training with steven and Annette he found that he played much worse than the other two. He described them playing together, after that Annette took him out of the concert but he came back in. Laurie walked in and Alex stopped playing. Steven and Annette continued to play perfectly. Laurie and Alex then talked about marriage and Laurie asked Alex if he thought his parents were getting back together. after that Alex wrote to the judge again and said that they are practicing for the concert and that the concert will be very good. He invites the judge to the concert, but the judge refuses because he has to work. So he can’t come.
Chapter 15: A night for surprises
Alex hated January and was writing his exams. He suddenly felt something for Laurie. He wanted his best friend back but he had to think about her all the time and his parents are now officially dating. Before the concert, Alex was very tense and nervous. Then he had to give a speech and he introduced the band. Before the concert, Sol asked him a favor to get his glasses from his room. He looked for the glasses but couldn’t find them. He realizes that Sol had set him up. When he went back to Sol he saw him playing his guitar and he was crying. He thought it was very nice when Sol played after that Alex’s band played and he thought it was very special and Sol was very sad to hear. When they were done everyone clapped and they packed up and went home.
Chapter 16: Darkness
Alex was with Sol on the oxygen machine. Sol liked the concert gives Alex compliments. Alex asks why he doesn’t play guitar anymore. He played professionally, and then his wife died and he told about his daughter.
Chapter 17: The Valentines Day Massacre
Alex talked about the Valentine’s Day dance. Nobody asked Alex on a date but then Sarah came and she asked him on a date. Before the dance started, Sol got sick. They both followed him to the dance where Sara was with Brad. Laurie wanted to go to Sol but Sarah said they were already there and she didn’t have to go.
Chapter 18: Good Morning, World!
Bryon say, Alexa, he should ask Laurie out on a date Later, Laurie and Alex sat on the porch waiting for his mother. Alex tells the judges how nice the concert was and he talks about Sol and how he used to play guitar. He also told that his wife died in a car accident.
Chapter 19: The Mission

Sol wanted Alex to play guitar for him again. He wants to teach him more things about the guitar. Alex met his father again at his home.
Chapter 20: The Saints go Marchin’in
Sol is playing the guitar and he teach Alex tricks for the guitar. Alex tough it was the corniest thing that he ever hear. He plan what he can buy with the money that he save.
Chapter 21: The Work of breathing
Alex visit Sol and he has presents for him but Sol was nit there. He was by the doctor. Leonora say that sol’s health is really good for his age.
Chapter 22: Peace in my Tribe
Alex goes home and he thought about his parents and Laurie’s mother. Alex talked to his parents about it and he poured his heart out.
Chapter 23: Finale
Alex and his band are going to a concert and Alex is very nervous.
Chapter 24: Coda
Alex was at Sol he is not going so well. Alex thought about his death. Sol’s daughter visited him again.
Chapter 25: The Saints go Marchin’in again
Sol was dying and they were at his funeral. Alex played one last Song for Sol.
